Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Persepolae has fallen.
Karnopolis has burned.
As the dark forces of the Undead sweep across what remains of the empire, Nazafareen must obey the summons of a demon queen to save Darius’s father, Victor. Burdened with a power she doesn’t understand and can barely control, Nazafareen embarks on a perilous journey through the shadowlands to the House-Behind-the-Veil. But what awaits her there is worse than she ever imagined…
A thousand leagues away, Tijah
leads a group of children on a desperate mission to rescue the prisoners at Gorgon-e Gaz, the stronghold where the oldest daēvas are kept. To get there, they must cross the Great Salt Plain, a parched ruin occupied by the armies of the night. A chance encounter adds a ghost from the past to their number. But will they arrive in time to avert a massacre?

And in the House-Behind-the-Veil, Balthazar and the Prophet Zarathustra discover that they have more in common than meets the eye. But is it enough to redeem the necromancer’s bloodstained soul and thwart his mistress’s plans?

As a final showdown looms with Queen Neblis, the truth of the daēvas’ origins is revealed and three worlds collide in this thrilling conclusion to the Fourth Element series.

My One Cent

This is the third installment in the series but is not yet the last. Yes, our heroes' journey does not end here. The Fourth Element series was intended to be a trilogy but as the stories and characters take form, the author realized that she has more in store for our characters. So, if you are faithfully following this journey, fear not, this is not the last of Nazafareen, Darius, and Tijah, yet. And I found myself smiling because of that news. Thank you, Kat Ross.

Yes, before I got to the end of the book, I thought this was the last of our friends' adventures. That finally, they will be able to vanquish the Evil Queen Neblis and her dark minions. But, that's not all. It seemed that our heroes are going to be facing another obstacle and this time it's going to be more impossible than the last they have been through. But relax, that is yet for another book.

This was an epic final battle between good and evil. Loyalties were tested and broken here. Eyes and consciousness are now wide awake. Origins were traced and declared. Ties and unexpected alliances were born. Worlds collided. In the end, the good still trumped evil because at the heart of even the most cunning and evil man is a goodness that was embedded so deep that it remained uncorrupted by the dark taint. And that tiniest bit of goodness has lead to the queen's downfall. And love, it still proved to be the strongest force of all. Finally, those that have been lost have been found and returned to their homes.

I give this book 5/5 full moons. This was really an epic journey. I am glad that Darius and Nazafareen's love have survived all of the chaos and deceit. And Tijah, she has found another purpose and another person who will help her get through the rest of the journey and accompany her in the next adventures. As she has said, life has a way of interfering with our best plans. In spite of those that have perished in the battles, this is still a victory that is to be celebrated. Goodness will always triumph over evil. So, if you are one of those who had escaped from the Dominion, be vary, your days are numbered. Right now, you are being hunted.

Thank you so much Xpressobooktours for the ARC. Thank you, Kat Ross, for an amazing ride. This has been a very spectacular journey that I am sure I would have missed a quarter of my life having not met the characters in this series. I am looking forward to the next chapter of their lives. I can't wait to know how Darius and Nazafareen will find their way out of their current situation. Ah, how to break the unbreakable and to make the impossible happen?

What is life--or death-- without a little mystery? I will discover the answer to that question when I get there.
